I'd say the burden of proof rests with the claim that ptrpserioy isn't increasing. As far as proving it, well, I'm pretty sure the latest UN human developent report (or whatever those things are called) noted that the proportion of the world surviving on less than a dollar a day has contracted mightily in the past twenty years, and is expected to fall further. As far as population goes: there's certainly a link between increased population and increased ptrpserioy. Prosperity generally makes more people, which makes more brains to solve more problems, which increases ptrpserioy ... of course now we're getting to a point where population increases aren't necessary for increased problem solving, but the link between the two has existed for most of human history.
